How do you view yourself as a person? What is your perception on reality? Each person views themself and reality in different ways. Self-image goes hand-in-hand with one's mental-health.
By definition, mental-health is one's grasp of reality inside and outside of themself. A positive or inflated self view causes emotional resilience and acts as a buffer towards negative emotional impact.(Reality Bites) A person's psyche is very fragile. Throughout our lives we all face hardships. The way in which we cope with these hardships can leave a lasting impact on our minds. The lack of coping with an even that is emotionally distressful can scar a person's self image, ultimately damaging their mental-health. DIstorted self-image, whether the image is positive or negative, can lead to poor moods.(reality bites) Self-view impacts personal and professional identity and the way in which we seperate our identity from that of others. (chapter 3) The way you view yourself is the cause of the way you behave in the work place and at home or with family or friends, along with your actions, feelings, and your thoughts.
The way you see the world, how people treat you, and the events that take place in your life impact the way you see yourself, and how you perceive reality. Due to these circumstances each and every person in the world possesses a different state of mental-health.

Reasearch Project Solving Crimes/Domestic Violence

Murder is a subject that has been around for centuries. Dating back years ago it has affected the lives of many bring about sorrow and mourning. But thanks to murder investigators it has been easier to find the murderer and bring him/her to justice. In earlier years crime solving had started as some officers viewed it "an art." But one man was determined to change that and his name was Alphonse Bertillon. Bertillon believed that crime solving would be easier using measurements to indentify people instead of using vague descriptions such as "medium" or "tall"(Crime Solving 13-15). So he proved it to the police station he worked at that it was true by finding his first criminal with these measurements figuring out that the name the criminal gave them was actually was false(Crime Solving 20-21).Later on down the road other forms of criminology were developed such as fingerprinting(Crime Solving 29-50) and DNA identification(Crime Solving 96-115) to make crime solving easier. Even Domestic Violence crimes are solved due to criminology. FOr example a man was convicted of murdering his wife and dismembering her body and limbs with an electric saw. Using forensic evidence they were able to indetify the blood and bone of the victim was in fact on the saw(BBC News). "First degree murder is characterized by premeditation or deliberate design". "Second degree murder is characterized by a lack of premeditation but includes international and reckless behavior accompanied by malice, express or implied." in some places today you can still be sentanced to death (Murder). It has been shown that American woman have more to fear from the men they know and once loved than from any stranger. 34% of woman were homicide victims over age 15 are killed by thier boyfriends or loved ones. 81% of men who batter had fathers who abused thier mothers. When found in the unwanted situation of being threated of being raped there is certain percuation you need to follow.Stay calm, you would want to stay calm because when freaked out you loose your sense of judgement. Get the dominent posistion, when you over power the person threatening you,you have a better chance of getting away.When found in the position of being on the bottom you should follow these steps: control the head. you first reaction will be o push them away this will make it easier for them to throw punches. Pull the head down to your chest, This will keep them close and unable to see. Control the hips, by wraping your legs around thier stomach, this will allow you to have a close gaurd, enabling you to mount. THe nest step is put thier head up while doing this you are going tostab your fingers into thier eyes,not just poking trying to cause them a great deal of pain and blinding them.COntrol the arm, this will allow you to slide you leg underneath your attacker and slid through. When you slide through, you can mount to the top getting the dominate posistion.At this point you will have the attacker confussed and you will be able to either throw punches with a choke or just through punches. Once you feel you are able to get up and run away, do so. When you are copinq or dealing with yourself or a family memeber who has been raped there is steps to do so you can feel that it is not your fault. The first steps is to know that the rape wasn't your fault, and you did not bring it upopn yourself.The rapist might say things such as "you asked for it" and "you wanted it". You need to remeber the the blame lies primarly in the rapists hands. If you have trouble realizing it isnt your fault, talk to someone they will be able to help you and make you realize it wasnt. The second is seeking medical attention, you don't know who or what the rapst is and has. Therefore it is better to be checked out just incase you have injuries or an std. Also if your having troubles a professional doctor can help you with anything you might need. The third is dealing with your feelings, you may start to feel depresed, and that life isnt worth it. Plastic Surgery

Over the years people have wanted to change their appearance, whether through make up or remodeling all together. This being know as plastic surgery. Plastic surgery comes with many emotional and physical side effects, some good and some bad. Plastic surgery has many side effects, such as physical problems like bleeding and blood clots. They are some of the largest dangers of plastic surgery. Scarring happens all the time after the surgery at the site of incision. Another risk of plastic surgery is necrosis; death of tissue due to insufficient supply. Necrosis runs a higher in tummy tucks. Nerve damage can also occur after plastic surgery, but it is a rare occurrence. In rare extreme cases tingling sensations can happen also weakness or paralysis and numbness (Pakhara). Numbness is sometimes common after plastic surgery, but it's usually temporary (Perles). Emotions can change after plastic surgery. Some emotional effects are depression, social isolation family problem, and self-destructive behaviors. Depending on the quality of the plastic surgery people might have an increase in confidence. With their new confidence the person might become more outgoing and their quality of life gets better. Some negatives can be found with the patients new confidence such as isolation from friends and family because they don't understand the persons confidence and don't recognize the attitude of the patient (Perles).

Body Displacement Disorder or BDD affects seven to twelve percent of people who have gone through plastic surgery. There are many celebrities and also regular average day people who have gone through and had plastic surgery done. So as it is concluded there are many positives and negatives that come along with having plastic surgery done (Perles).

Domestic Abuse is a violent confrontation between a family or household(Domestic Violence). There are a few types of abuse such as, physical, sexual, or phyciological(Grossi). If you think your in a abusive relationship, there are signs to look for. For example, emotional,him calling you names, playing mind games, humiliating you, making you feel guilty,etc. Another example is using intimidation, abuse of pets, driving dangerous, the displaying of weapons. Using your children,make you feel guilty about them, threaten to take them away,have them relay messages, etc. Jealousy and Blame is another example. If he has to check where you've been and who you've talked to, and saying that you caused it(Domestic Violence).

Emotional abuse can leave deep and lasting scars. Domestic abuse can also be known as spousal abuse. One reason why people abuse other people is to gain and maintain control over you. Alot of abuses can be heterosexual and same sex partners. People use tactics to their partners. Some include, dominace, humiliation, isolation, threats, intimidation, denial and blame. Partners who abuse, physically and sexually are at a higher risk to getting injured or getting killed(Domestic Violence & Abuse).

Psychological violence is the most destructive. 1.5 million women are physically raped in the U.S. each year. 85% of rapes or abuse are women. About 33% of homicides and about 4% of male homicides involved intamites. In 2001, 690,000 incidents were nonfatal. The "cycle of violence" tends to be building. There is an acute-battering phase, and a kindness/loving phase. In 1994, VAWA(Violence Against Women Act) was passed(Grossi).

To recognize abuse is when your partner wants you to not hang out with other people, and controls what u do,blames you fro everything, starts forcing sex, breaks things and attacks you.  Ways to help a victim is by showing compassion and acknowledging that their story was scary. Be supported and be a good listener, help them find help for themselves (Domestic Abuse Wright.edu).
   
     The reason the victims stay with the abuser is because of love, hope, and fear (Domestic Abuse wright.edu). Most women suffer with the abuse,but others actually survive and get away. So if a person lives a abuser and they have a child then that person no matter how much they love them, they must get out of that situation. Domestic violence is the act of violence in verbal and physical abuse in ones house hold or members in ones family. this happens all over the world. some people talk about it and do something about it and some people just let it get worse and don't do any thing about it.

Domestic violence is a serious issue. Domestic violence effects everyone involved. It can involve anyone, regardless of gender, race, age, or location. Domestic violence generly includes:name calling, thretens, hiting, kickin, choving, slaping, angry drinking, drug taking, stopping of seeing friends or family, forced sex, control of money or how you dress. Some people think there imagining abuse even know they can feel the physical and mental pain.(mayoclinic) The amont of domestic violence in the world is a large amont. one in every 4 women experience violence in the life. also 85% of domestic violence victims are women. rape is another form of domestic violence, 1/6 women and 1/33 men experience rape. domestic violence can lead to depression. also can lean to the use of drugs. if someone is exsperiencing domestic violence they have to try to keep uop there self-esteem. also another way of abuse is when a pragnent women doing drugs because the child has no way of getting away from it.(NVAM) some people dont think abuse could change. any person in the relastionship can influence in the violence. the healling part from abuse involves physical, emotionally and phychologically. the only way to change this violenc is the willing to change in your self. colling down can pervent abuse. also can therape.(King, Jeanne.)

Modeling Essay

Being a model may seem like a super fun job with no worries, or stress. You get paid tons of money if you're successful and famous, get to try on all these new clothes and possibly keep them, and tons of fans looking up to you. But it could really risk your life if you're not careful.

Modeling became famous during the 1850's. Typically the type of men and women to get the job are goodlooking. If you're not a successful famous model then you get paid a small amount. You have to work really hard to try to be successful to get paid big amounts. Or if you don't get paid with money you can sometimes get paid with clothing. Woman models had to be at a height requirement of atleast 5'9", slender, and with the measurements of 34-24-34. They had to be able to fit into production size samples. Men had to be atleast 5'11" with muscle, toned abs, and with the measurements of 37-43. The point of modeling is to sell a product or to promote something. Some of the types of models are print, runway, high fashion and fitness models. Tons of women and some men get so caught up in the looking skinny for modeling that they starve themselves and eventually develop an eating disorder. A lot of models have suffered with eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia to try to get ahead in the modeling world. Some have even died. A famous model in the 1960's named "Twiggy" made the thin look "in." Statistics have shown that if you're stick thin then you sell more copies. Models like Luisel Ramos, Eliana Ramos, and Ana Carolina Reston have died from Anorexia. Ana put herself on a diet of apples and tomatoes. Luisel died after weighing 88 pounds. Her diet consisted of lettuce and diet coke. Singer Karen Carpenter died from having a heart attack which was from her battling anorexia. Other celebrities like Kate Hudson and Mary Kate Olsen have suffered from Anorexia as well. Passarela Cibeles is a fashion show in Madrid, Spain that started banning stick thin models. Over 30% of models were banned from modeling because they didn't reach the BMI of atleast 18 in 2006. A lot of those models that got banned got offended.


I'm personally glad they started this thin ban thing because now a lot of women won't think that they have to be stick thin to be beautiful. Now a days, there are tons of plus size models that show girls that being a little on the heavy side still looks good and can make you a model.

Homosexuality

Homosexuality is the romantic or sexual behavior humans encounter between the same sex or gender. It is one of the three main sexual orientation which includes bisexuality and heterosexuality. For woman, they prefer the term lesbians and for men they prefer gay. Although, gay can be used for both male and females.
The controversy that surrounds homosexuality is primarily religiously based. The school of thought is that homosexuality goes against the scriptures. In the book of Leviticus, it states that "you shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination" (18:22). It also states that "if a male lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have an abomination, they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them" (20:13). All scriptures in the bible teach the unacceptability of homosexual behavior that is strongly linked to moral ethics or standards.
Another area of unacceptability of homosexuality in today's society can be seen in the recent controversy of "Don't ask don't tell". “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was a compromise policy put into place after newly elected President Bill Clinton failed to persuade Congress and the military command to lift all restrictions on the service of homosexuals in the armed forces" (Mohler, 2010). This has been a hot issue within the miltiary structure of our country. Many feel as though the status quo of "Dont ask, dont tell" has disabled the military to concentrate on their duties instead of worrying about the sexual preference of fellow soldiers. It has led to a breakdown in the structural fiber of the military. "The normalization of homosexuality within the armed forces does not merely mean the fact that persons found to have a homosexual orientation will no longer be discharged from the military, it also means that something as central to human experience and identity as sexuality now complicates the situation" (Mohler, 2010).
In the book "Unbearable Lightness" by Portia De Rossi, Portia tells her story of how homosexuality influences her life. Ellen Degeneres not only changes her life, but helps Portia realize being who you are isn't a bad thing. Homosexuality is all over the world, whether it's in the military, or in society, people are always going to debate about it and fight for what they think is right.

Eating Disorder Essay

Many people in the world are suffering in many ways. Some suffer from Cancer, while others suffer from Eating Disorders. Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Compulsive Eating are the 3 types of eating Disorders. Anorexia Nervosa also known a Anorexia is one of the most popular eating disorder in the world. The word means "loss of appetite". Anorexia is caused due to you thoughts and emotions. Also if your having problems at home. Anorexics starve themselves or eat very low amounts of food, but deep inside they are craving so much food. More then 8 Million people are Anorexic in the U.S. From those 8 milion more of them are female than male. People develope Anorexia because of insercurity, peer pressure, and society's pressure to be thin. Many people use Anorexia as a way to feel in control and proud of oneself. The eating disorder affects all your body functions. In the female, the menstrual cycle stops and you"ll look and feel very weak, but some symptoms won't occur untl severe weight loss. Also, women will have a hard time having children. In both genders the skin turns yellow and becomes very dry. (Watson, Stephanie) Anorexics develop many diseases also. For example Osteoporosis which is when the bones don't develop properly, and Kidney, Liver, and Stomach Disease. Mostly models are anorexic because they want to look good for fame and the public. Many people in Europe belive that thin women are considered beautiful and biger women are not. The proper treatment would be to get hospitalized so you can undergo the refeeding program. In this program you will get a tube instered in the chest and food will go through there. (Lynette, Rachel)

Other than Anorexia alot of people also suffer from Bulimia Nervosa. The word Bulimia comes from the Greek word Buos "ox" and limos "hunger". People who are Bulimic tend to eat a lot of food at once than get rid of it. The eating disorder was first diagnosed in 1950 but no one tend to really understand it until 1980. There's 2-types of bulimia: purging and non- purging. In purging bulimics use drugs, diet pills, and vomit to get rid of the food. Then in non- purging bulimics exercise lot to get rid of fat. Some symptoms are always being happy because they are skinny, have severe mood swings, and tend to alternate from over eating to strict dieting. Also people are vomitting a lot, buy or steal large amounts of food, buy lxatives, and have marks on fingers from the vomit. This eating disorder also causes health problems such as an irregular heart beat, low blood pressure, dehydration, diarrhea, and abdominal pains. Also, dizziness, swelling in the chest, gum diseases, cavities,sore throat, and cuts on knuckles. The proper treatment would be family and group therapy. (Watson, Stephanie)

Lastly Compulsive Eating is the 3rd most popular eating disorder. Copulsive is some what similar to Bulimia because in both people eat. Compulsive Eating is characterized by uncontrollable eatting and consequent weight gain. People use food as a way to relieve stress and emtional conflicts. Females and males tend to compulsive eat becasue they feel in control but they also recognize they have a problem. Compulsive Eating usually starts in an early childhood because the children can take after their parents. Unlike the other two eating disorders compulsive eating is higher in males than in females. It's been stated that the more a person weighs the harder and more they exercise. Some signs of a compulsive eating person are binge eating, depression, embarrasment of weight, going on many diets, eating little in public, and their weight takes over the daily life. Compulsive Eating also affect the physical and medical body in many ways. For example a person will gain weight, get fatigue, have heart ailments, mobility problems, diabetes, arthritis, hiatal hernia, sleep depravation, high blood pressure, and high cholestrial levels. all those problems can or will lead up to death. The proper treatment for compulsive eating would be therapy, medical, and nutritional counciling. One of the greatest treatment center for 25 years is Rader Program. This program helps both the individual and their family. (Thompson, Colleen) Many people suffer from eating disorders but only few get treated because many hide it. This is a serious problem not only for the United States but for teh whole world. Alcoholism

When people are alcoholics they are addicted to it too, its like a chemical for your brain(Kalant, Harold) Many people who are alcoholics are very distressed, people who don't like to deal with their problems, some just do it for he fun of it, or also known as to "fit in".

For self help people go to the recovery program also known as the AA. To attend these recovery programs you have to have the will of stoping. You have to recongize your own addiction and understand how its hurting you and even others. AA is a 12 step recovering process (Norris, John L) Slowly you have to try and regain your confidence back.

People who have this problem may never drink safely again, they can never fully recover. Alcoholics have to regain control of themselves and their life. (Alcoholics Anonymous) They may have harmed many people in the process of recovering and have to except the hurt.

Alcoholism is not a joke. Millions of people suffer from it and it highly effects peoples lives. Im sure many people know an alcoholic, its not easy even to deal with them. The first step is admitting you have a problem then getting help. Its not an easy road but its well worth it.

Anorexia Nervosa is a self imposed stavation. Anorexia leads to emaciation. Emaciation is bonyness. In woman this can cause loss of menstrual periods, a tendencey to be self perpetuating. Treatment for Anorexia involves restitution of normal nutrition.(Bruch and Garfinkel."Anorexia nervosa")

Anorexia nervosa occurs with other illnesses such as depression, substance abuse, and anexiety disorders. Anorexia is more common in females then males. 35% of binge eaters are male. If anorexia isnt helped it will lead to serious complications, Like heart conditions and kidney failure, Kidney failure can lead to death (World Almanac & Book of Facts: Eating Disorders). Most people will have anorexia around the age 11-40. 3% sufffer anorexia, 18% women will die ans 90% of anorexia suffers are women("How many people have anorexia?" Answers.com)

Here are some people that went through Anorexia, Alma, age 15 was 5'6" and 120 Pounds. Her father Told her to watch her weight. so Alma restricted the food she ate less and went on diets, she also exrcised alot. Alma now has anorexia nervose, she now starves. Lisa said that things went wrong and she ate large quantities of sweets. Lisa made her self vomit after she ate. Lisa now has Bulimia Nervese. Patient is 30 years old and she binge eats , this means she eats then vomits. Patient now has a binge eating disorder(Robbins, "Anorexia And Bulima"). A little girl at age 13 gained a little bit of weight. She was self conscious about how she looked and her body. She only allowed herself to eat cottage cheese and oatmael. Her moods went up and down. Her "brain" starved and now she cant remember her freshman year(Shiroky and Ryan,"Dying to be thin").

Anorexia Nervosa is where people starve. Anorexia Nervosa leads to alot of problems. But Anorexia isnt the only eating disorder there is Bulimia and Binge eating. These eating disorders lead to problems like heart conditions and emaciation, etc. So Anorexia isnt good at all. You can get help from organizations and hire nutritists.

Week 3 Web Weaver

Outward Bound tickets is something that Janine wanted for Christmas, but Kurt didn't give it to her. Instead he gave her an expensive necklace. She wanted to do the outward bound because she was tired of fearing everything especially heights. Kurt and Janine were having a hard time with their marriage so they go on a vacation with Janine's older sister and their daughter to Florida. In the end the trip didn't help and Kurt and Janine split after a really bad fight.

Week 2 Journal Writer

Dear journal, Michael has brought me to Colorado for a Skiing vacation. I got tried part way through the ski run, but he wanted to keep going so i encouraged him to keep going, and that i would wait for him. When we got back to the room i opened my mouth and said something i should not have said. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful but it came out that way. I made the one comment that made it sound like I was making fun of him for being a poor little rich kid which he grew up being called most of his life, but that's still no reason for to have hit me.... is it? He hit me several times in the ribs and it hurts, along with my making my nose bleed. After the beating he got me ice and apologies and put me to bed. Dear Journal, The past few months i have been going through a hard time with Kurt. Him and i have been having problems in our marriage. As well as that , my sister Amy has been murdered by her boyfriend. I feel so crushed everything is just falling apart. I miss my sister so much and i hope that i don't end up alone. Kurt and I plan on getting a divorce and it's hard for me to deal with all this.

Week 1 Quote Keeper

(pg. 10) This quote is important to the book because it shows how uncaring Janine's father is to her feelings when something trumatic happens. 2:) "The way you keep picking on Amy and Pat they'll move out too." Janine's mom says. (pg 41) This quote is important because it shows that Mrs. Latus realizes that her husband is a bad father, and that she does care for her kids. It also shows that she is weak at that she will only say the obvious and rarely shows any action to prevent the bad from happening. 3:) "You're dad and i are gettinga divorce" Janine's mom says. (pg 51) This quote shows that Mrs. Latus has finally taken the action for the better of her kids. She wants better for them than the uncomfortable feelings that their fathergives them, but it took her until there were only two kids left to actually make this choice. Which i believe shows how weak she is in taking action for herself.

Week 4 Reporter

Janine- She is the main character throughout the book, and also the narrator. She fears many things but she has the will to overcome them; to get stronger. Kurt- He is Janine's husband who is always trying to make her look better. He gets suspicious of Janine cheating on him. He's always yelling at her, and not listening to what she wants. Amy- She is Janine's youngest sister who get's killed. She was a happy go lucky type of person, always looking for the best in people even though it was obvious that a person isn't good. She is easy to trick and when people try to tell her that she should change something for her safety she'll shut that person out of her life instead of the thing causing her pain. Ron- He is Amy's boyfriend. He's also the person who kills Amy. He's a drunk, a criminal, and cheater. He is the main problem at the end of the book.

I agree with the first one as well. Girls think that there is no one out there better than this guy so yes they are scared to leave. They think no one can love them like this guy does. Its all in their head. Once they leave they can go to their friends and have them help them out.

Dear journal, When i came home from Washington i tried to usethe door opener so i could put my car in and go in and see my family but the car door opener wasnt working. So i went in through the front door and i get bitched at because i didnt go through the door. I feel bad i didnt go through the door but the car door opener wasnt working so what was i to do. I had to get in some how. I went through the door and the kids are running at me and hugging me woundering what i got them. Kurt comes in and bitches at me and tels me i have to go back out to my car and wait. I was about to cry but i held it in because i didnt want him to see i was scared. Dear Journal, Kurt and I have hit a rough patch. We always argue, he's always blaming me for things i have no control over. We went for a trip and took sarah and my sister. She decided to watch her for us. Kurt pressured me into another tight bathing suit yet again. Dear Dairy, 3/25/11

Well today i went out to lunch with my brother and i can't believe that he said i looked really skinny. I believe i look normal! Sadly, today i binged in the parking lot of the Mall, can't you believe it!!! Ugh i got a piece of gum to calm my stomach which was only 5 calories. But then i binged and i ended up in- taking 60 calories how the hell am i suppost to stay skinny when i keep eating junk food. OH no those calories are going to turn into fat CRAP!!!... So then later that night i made sure i lost those pounds. I ran about 6 time up and down my stairs. Then the last to times was becasue i forgot my precious outside and then the second time was becasue i left my shopping items in my car. Ugh this is really killing me all i want to be is freaking skinny for crist sake.

Text to Text: In the book Janine tries desparately to get pregnant, taking fertility drugs and consulting her doctor but she can not. So her friend called her and asked her if she considered adoption and she delightfully agreed(after consulting Kurt of course). In the movie Juno, Junos stepmother wanted to get pregnant aswell but could not so she decided to adopt too.

Text to World:The abuse that Janine takes from Kurt reminds me of the the abuse that many woman in the world today take. A lot of woman feel as though they are either not pretty enough to get another man or that they are not a good enough person to be able to find another man. In this case Janine thinks that she deserves the abuse that kurt is giving her and that no man deserves her.

Text to Self:In the book Janine wishes to go on an "Outward Bound" so she can get over her fear of heights. Though she wanted to go alone Kurt did not try to help her go without him so she payed for an experience similar to the Out Bound she was hoping for it was a Rock Climbing lesson. In my life I have always been afraid of heights but over the years i have become less afraid and enjoy riding the occasional rollercoaster.

Dear Diary,
I loved what the kids and Kurt made. In the garage hung a white bed sheet that had a huge red heart. And across the top it said We Love You Nene! The edges have multicolored hand prints around it. They also made me manicotti. Amy finally got a divorce. I was thinking that me and Kurt should go see a therapist otherwise I don't think we will make it. After we go to see the therapist, Kurt takes me to a resort. When we got back, Dave, Kurt's co-worker and friend, dies. Then a year later Jim dies. And now Amy is worried because she owes more than $15,000, plus back taxes. I had surgery to repair a ligament I tore. After 4th of July with the family, me and Kurt fly into Fort Lauderdale and rent a red convertible. Half an hour later we roll into the tiny town of Lauderdale by the Sea. We visit one of the dozens of shops that line the beachfront. He tells me to try on a black thong bikini. A year later I go to find a bathing suit. I decide to find a doctor to try to detach the muscles in my breast's. But he can't so he makes them bigger. Me and Kurt decide to have a baby, it doesn't work, so we end up adopting. I'm 40 now. The kids and Kurt take me to the Pasta Factory. They bring me a cake and sing Happy Birthday to me. That's it for now. Talk to you later. Ill write again.

My husband left me for my brother's wife. So now we live together so we both won't be lonely. Oh and I'm sooo not comfortable with my weight. I think I have these huge hips and this big stomach. I secretly starve myself so I can fit into smaller clothing. I got a lead roll on the show Ally McBeal as a lawyer, so I had to lose weight for that because I have to wear revealing clothing in one episode and I have to wear this tight skirt. I'm a funny and flirty guy. I find Janine very a attractive and we are dating. She and i are quite close. she stays over to my house slowly adding a new item of hers over the course of weeks. Portia suffers with her weight all through the book and soon you realizes she needs a nutritionist to help her maintain a healthy diet. Portia reveals to her nutritionist that she makes herself throw up.

Portia says this because she wants to be skinny and lean like a model... not muscular like a guy. She wants to be perfect and working out is not perfect in her eyes.

Portia was always around food and junk food during and after her photoshoots. To have people not suspect anything she would eat and then be forced to throw up after.

Journal Writer- Week 2

Dear diary,
Phew. So much has happened in these last few years. I cant even remember where I left off. Well the last guy I think i wrote about was Michael. Well that ended horribly. We went on a ski trip and like normal i pushed his buttons. Not sure why this time was any different, but he hit me. Not just once, not lightly. He broke my ribs & my nose. My eyes were black and blue from my brow to my cheek bone. I almost stayed. Tried to blame it on myself ; but I realized I couldnt stay. I ended things with him. Kurt came to my rescue. He was married and had a child on the way but I fell in love with him, he loved me too. When his son was six months old, Kurt left his wife and we were together. I went to Washington D.C on a journalism experience. When I came back me and Kurt moved in together. Shortly we were engaged. I couldnt be happier. We had a small wedding with his kids and one witness. But a few months later we renewed our vows with all our friends and family. I surprisingly made the decision to get breast implants. To make Kurt and me happier. I really love Kurt and im very happy. Life couldnt get better. Ill write again soon.

I think i would agree and disagree with this quote.  I agree because if it's someone your really close with then you should be there for then. Always try to bring up their spirit and never let them get sad. i disagree because if it's someone who has given you problems and a hard time then it would be ok to drag them down. Dear diary

Back then when I was so happy to be with Kurt. Kurt was so sweet and kind and lovely he was just one of the residents at the hospital who I happen to cling on right after I had happen to just break it off with Michael. Me and Kurt started secretly going out. Even though he was married and had kids of his own. I feel like a home wrecker.I remember going to Washington and how hard it was to leave the kids and Kurt.I graduated with hoopla and moved in with Kurt.Who would of thought that later on we would be married. And I would be a step mother of his kids who I love dearly.Even though back then Kurt told me countless of times he never leave his wife.Which was a lie.I ended up getting breast implants for Kurt even though I loss the feeling on my left breast I also wear tighter clothes which Kurt says make me sexy. I get evil stares from women and lustful eyes from men which make me feel like a whore. Me and Kurt now get in countless arguments which he blames me for everything. I hate when he like this he also hits me a couple of times and screams at me but I love him and I know he loves me. We go to therapy but all she tells us is to do thing that pleases each other.

"I like it, and then i don't. Why is there no finish line? Why most i always be better?" (pg. 130) I believe that this quote is meaning that she will never think to be good enough for people and will always have something to fix for herself for other people.

"She cries more, then sniffles." (pg. 132) iquote it means a lot because she doesnt want to leave her husband but she is also being contolled by him and taken advantage of, she wants to be happy again but doesnt understand how she is going to leave him, because she does love him and care for him.

Text to Self: In the book Janine was talking about how she went to the carnival in the spring and how there setting up the tilt-a-whirl and the Himalayas. I love going to the carnival because there are so much fun. It is a time for you and you friends or even family members to hang out and enjoy yourselves. She also talks about all the nasty carnival people by their rides looking at her. I remember when the people at their rides just look at you because they don't want to be there and there screaming inside to help them.



Text to World: During this section Amy has a hard time with her marriage. Many people in the world have a hard time with their marriages. Amy is not the only one. During Amy's marriage Jim her husband would drink. He would constantly loose his job. Which would leave Amy to pay all the bills that her and him should have to pay. That is how some marriages go in this world.

Text to Text: In this book there and a couple people going through a hard time. Janine for example she is going there a hard time because Kurt gets mad at the littlest things. Like coming through the front door when she came home from NYC because her garage door button didn't work. That was a little much. I can relate this book to The Last Lecture. Randy the main character was going through a hard time because he had a cancer that only gave him about 2 - 3 years to live.

1)Janine- auther of the book, its from her memories. From her life. She is married to Kurt. Got a breast implant and takes care of Kurts children. She is constintly worring about her weight so she works out a lot.

2)Amie- Janines younger sister. Married and divorsed Jim. Closest sibling to Janine (not in age but they talk about everything). Struggles with her weight.

3)Michael- Dated Janine, Beat her because she said soemthing wrong during a ski trip they took together. But she leaves him.

4) Kurt- Janine marries him after he left his wife for her. Has two kids, he's also a doctor at the hospital they work at. Makes Janine wear revealing clothes.

5)Mike and Claire- Kurts children with her ex-wife. Janines step-children, but she takes care of them as if they were her owen

6) Jim- Amies ex-husband, he use to beat her when he was angry. Couldnt hold down a job. Drank all the time

7) John- Married Janines mother after she divorsed her father. Makes everyone happy. All of her siblings love him as if he was really there father.

dear journal,
im head over heals in love, and so is he. he even left his wife for me how amazing is that we are like a little family he has comforted me in my worst of days,and now he is in my best.we are stressed from work we fight sometimes, amy is still with jim ugh it frustrates me i knoe she can do so much better she is afraid. its okay i was too and still am, he is in and out of drinking and jobs amy copes by eating she gains weight. the time has come to go to washington.kurt is nervous i will cheat on him, i guess its okay our relationship started as one big lie anyway, i live off of barley anytbing so i dont have to get a job and live in bad conditions(the gay part of town). i make it through though i come back soon later we get married nothing big until the summer we have a wedding sort of deal again. amy comes alone. a little while into my our marriage we fight and talk about me getting implAnts, i fight over the ideal with myself it went against everything i believed in but kurt was right i was unhappy with them. i go through it i get my implants he is soo happy. its funny to see the way people and himself react to such a change in my apperance. oh well

I agree with this quote, mainly because a lot of the time it is you telling yourself you can't do something. If something seem's new to you you might get scared and have a fear of not being able to do whatever it is for reason as being judged and doing something wrong and such.

I disagree with this quote, because you don't always have to be doing something better then what you are. I think you should live to please yourself and not worry about what others think. You should be more concerned about how you feel then waht others are going to say.

Text to World: This book is related to the outside world because a lot of people have very rough marriages that go downhill and there are also people who are lazy. Janine's sister, Amy, experiences that. Amy is going through a rough marriage because she has to do everything: work,clean,etc., while her lazy husband can't keep a job. He also he hits her sometimes. They keep breaking up and then getting back together. But finally she listens to her sister,Janine, and breaks up with him for good.

Text to World: A lot of people also have hard relationships with their dads for certain reasons,like Janine. He doesn't really like her dad because he is perverted and inappropriate. For example, when Janine was having her graduation party. Janine got a phone call from her dad saying that he was coming to her apartment for the party. She was wondering who told him about it. When he got there the first thing he did was hug Janine and wouldn't let her go,and also told her she had nice legs. He was being perverted once again.

Text to World: Sometimes people find their true love know matter how long it takes, whatever they have to do, or to act a certain way. But Janine didn't do any of that. She found the love of her life by being herself. Even though her husband Kurt left his wife for Janine, he took his kids with him. And now they are her step-children and she loves them very much. She didn't have to do anything manipulative to get what she wanted. They love each other very much.

"It was a lie, but it should've been the truth." Pg.50 This means that she had lied and now she regrets it, and now she wished that she told the truth.
