Domestic Violence is an act of violence or abuse against a person living in one's
household, especially a member of one's immediate family. Abuse can happen to anyone, but mostly is focused on women and children (Domestic Abuse Wright.edu). As children grow up seeing abuse they will pick up the act of violence behavior (Domestic Violence by Joe Layden).
Abuse doesn't always have to be physical but it can be psychological abuse which has a greater impact on the victim (Domestic Abuse Wright.edu). The pattern with domestic abuse is that it starts off as verbal abuse, than physical abuse and last seduction (Domestic Abuse Wright.edu). Domestic violence is one leading causes for the injury in death of women (Domestic Violence by Joe Layden). To recognize abuse is when your partner wants you to not hang out with other people, and controls what u do,blames you fro everything, starts forcing sex, breaks things and attacks you. Ways to help a victim is by showing compassion and acknowledging that their story was scary. Be supported and be a good listener, help them find help for themselves (Domestic Abuse Wright.edu).
The reason the victims stay with the abuser is because of love, hope, and fear (Domestic Abuse wright.edu). Most women suffer with the abuse, but others actually survive and get away. So if a person lives a abuser and they have a child then that person no matter how much they love them, they must get out of that situation. Domestic violence is a big problem so it should try to be avoided.
