Essay-Domestic Abuse

Domestic Abuse is a violent confrontation between a family or household(Domestic Violence). There are a few types of abuse such as, physical, sexual, or phyciological(Grossi). There is also emotional abuse(Domestic Violence & Abuse).Domestic violence can happen to anyone,it doesn't matter on your size, gender, etc (Domestic Violence & Abuse).


If you think your in a abusive relationship, there are signs to look for. For example, emotional,him calling you names, playing mind games, humiliating you, making you feel guilty,etc. Another example is using intimidation, abuse of pets, driving dangerous, the displaying of weapons. Using your children,make you feel guilty about them, threaten to take them away,have them relay messages, etc. Jealousy and Blame is another example. If he has to check where you've been and who you've talked to, and saying that you caused it(Domestic Violence).


Emotional abuse can leave deep and lasting scars. Domestic abuse can also be known as spousal abuse. One reason why people abuse other people is to gain and maintain control over you. Alot of abuses can be heterosexual and same sex partners. People use tactics to their partners. Some include, dominace, humiliation, isolation, threats, intimidation, denial and blame. Partners who abuse, physically and sexually are at a higher risk to getting injured or getting killed(Domestic Violence & Abuse).


Psychological violence is the most destructive. 1.5 million women are physically raped in the U.S. each year. 85% of rapes or abuse are women. About 33% of homicides and about 4% of male homicides involved intamites. In 2001, 690,000 incidents were nonfatal. The "cycle of violence" tends to be building. There is an acute-battering phase, and a kindness/loving phase. In 1994, VAWA(Violence Against Women Act) was passed(Grossi).


Domestic Abuse is a very serious thing in this world. Abuse is a violent confronation betweena family or household(Domestic Violence). It can happen to anyone, doesn't matter your size, gender, etc(Domestic Violence and Abuse).
