1. Janine latus is the author and narrator in the book .She is pretty much a tomboy and has a very strong personality and is very independent. who goes though abuse throughout the book emotionality and physically.
2. Janette is Janine identical twin sister who dies in the beginning of the book as a baby
3. Jane latus is the oldest sister the second child after Steve
4. Steven is the oldest child of the latus family
5. Amy latus is the baby of the latus family and has a major part in the book she gets married and also get abused
6. uncle sandy lives with the family a little while in the beginning of the book and is Janine favorite uncle who fixes broken things and toys around the house

8. Mr. Johnston is the first person to sexually harass Janine
9. Cathy is a girl at the campsite that goes with Tim Janine describes her as a pretty girl
